Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic – the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is finally out today on Nintendo Switch / Switch 2, Steam, and PlayStation 5.

It is a remade version of Touhou Koumakyou, created by Shanghai Alice Reprise with ZUN at its center.

This is a vertically scrolling 2D shoot ’em up in which you press forward while dodging gorgeous Danmaku.
Take control of Reimu the shrine maiden or Marisa the magician and resolve the incident striking Gensoukyou.
Weave your way onward through Danmaku dense enough to fill the entire screen.

The game has been brought up to a higher resolution for modern displays, and the pixel art has been redrawn from scratch.
On top of that, every BGM track is a self-arrangement by ZUN.

A new mode that lets you play with unlimited lives has also been added.

Your purchase gets you the Classic version — a recreation of the 2002 Touhou Koumakyou that is as faithful to the original as possible — for free.
(※ The Classic version is available in Japanese only.)

The Deluxe Edition also comes with the Soundtrack Player, which lets you listen to over 30 tracks in total: the BGM from the 2002 Touhou Koumakyou plus the songs ZUN wrote for New Classic.
(On Steam, this comes as a Soundtrack instead.)
